The Battle of Cacique took place in space above Cacique in 5151 CE.
Background[]
In 5151 CE the Monserrat Stars became a contested area between Alliance of Free Stars and Republic of Cinnabar. Both powers had sent roughly the same naval forces in the cluster.7:3
The Alliance Fleet fleet, commanded by Admiral Anton Petersen, conducted a surprise attack on the RCN forces at New Harmony, and won a significant victory in the Battle of New Harmony. Of the Cinnabar fleet commanded by Admiral Ozawa, all four battleships, a cruiser, and a number of destroyers were destroyed or captured in harbor. The remainder of RCN ships fled to Cacique. After the battle, most of Petersen's fleet—three battleships and attendant screens—proceeded to the Cacique System to blockade surviving RCN forces, and eventually reduce the defenses there in order to destroy or capture them.7:12
Course of Battle[]
The Alliance Fleet warships were damaged. Those that could flee into the Matrix did so; two heavily damaged battleships surrendered, including Admiral Petersen's flagship Heimdall.
RCS Milton suffered a missile strike which destroyed the rear of the ship, but remained mostly operational. 33 spacers aboard died or received serious injuries.7:27
Aftermath[]
Daniel Leary got a wreath to his Cinnabar Star as a result of that battle.8:3
The Alliance Fleet battleship Oldenburg had been badly damaged and captured by the RCN.8:21
